The One-Day Lights-On Board Upgrade, from £1,295 fixed: fitted and certified in a day, a power station on loan so your Wi-Fi and laptop stay on, and a 6-year Fix-Free Guarantee. Not sure you need one? Start with a free photo check.
Free Fuse Box Photo Check: send 2 or 3 photos on WhatsApp, or have a 10-minute video call, and get a written verdict and a fixed price within one working day. 20-Minute Thermal Board Check: £49 in person with a thermal camera, credited against any upgrade booked within 14 days. Not worth £49 to you? Say so on the day and we'll refund it.
* 4- and 5-bed homes: each additional consumer unit is £125 extra.
No-Surprise Price Lock: the price we quote is the price you pay. A hidden fault is fixed at our capped price per circuit, agreed before we start, or you stop and pay only for the visit.
One price, however you pay: pay in full when you book and get first pick of fitting dates, or 50% on booking and 50% on completion. Quotes are valid for 14 days.
The plastic isn't the danger. What's missing inside is. Tap a number to see why, then switch to the board we fit.
The 20-Minute Thermal Board Check is £49, in person, with a thermal camera. It's credited against any upgrade booked within 14 days, or refunded on the day if it isn't worth it to you.
Most people start with a free photo check. If the board needs replacing, the price is fixed before we start.
1. Roughly how old is your board?
2. What is it made of?
3. Does it have a test button marked RCD?
4. When was it last inspected?
Answer the four questions and your result appears here.
Own your home and want it looked after? Home Plan, £12 a month: annual check, an EICR every 5 years (twice as often as recommended), 20% off repairs. The first 12 months are included with every board upgrade.
We fit a maximum of 8 boards a week, so our Qualified Supervisor checks every one. Lights-On for Christmas: the last fitting date before Christmas is 18 December.
6-Year Fix-Free Guarantee. If anything we fitted fails within 6 years, we attend within 2 working days and fix it free. If we miss that, we pay another NICEIC-registered electrician to fix it, up to £250. It sits on top of NICEIC's Platinum Promise, which covers our work if we ever stop trading (up to the amount you paid or £25,000, whichever is lower). Other work is guaranteed for 2 years.
No-Surprise Price Lock. Send the photos or video we ask for, and the price we quote is the price you pay. If a hidden fault appears, such as missing earthing or damaged wiring, we show you the readings and fix it at our capped price per circuit, agreed in writing before we start, or you stop and pay only for the visit.
No-Trip Promise. If your new board trips in the first 12 months, we come back free until we find the cause, even if it's an appliance.
Keep-Working Power Pack. We lend a portable power station with normal 240V sockets on every board change. Plug in your Wi-Fi router, laptop, phones and TV while the power is off. Heating, hot water, the oven and an electric shower are off for those hours. Keep the fridge and freezer shut and they stay cold.
Live Job Tracker and Clean-Exit Promise. WhatsApp updates at each stage: arrived, power off, testing, power on, certificate sent. Dust sheets down, everything vacuumed, and an "after" photo before we go.
Property Passport tag. An NFC and QR tag on the board opens its certificate, test results and history on any phone. Try it.
| Ask the quote | Ours |

A much cheaper quote usually leaves out two or three of these. Ask. One price however you pay: in full when you book (first pick of fitting dates) or 50% on booking and 50% on completion. Hidden faults are covered by the No-Surprise Price Lock.

Once your board is fitted, recommend us. When your friend's board upgrade is complete and paid, you get £75 and they get £75 off (£100 each on 4- and 5-bed homes). No forms: they just give your name when they book.
If your board has rewireable fuses, no RCD test buttons, or is over 20 years old, it almost certainly needs upgrading. Not sure? Send us photos for a free check, or book the £49 20-Minute Thermal Board Check: a written answer, credited against any upgrade booked within 14 days.
Usually two to three hours in the middle of the visit. We tell you the exact window, and lend you a portable power station with 240V sockets so your Wi-Fi, laptop and phones stay on.
Everything we fitted, for six years. If it fails, we attend within 2 working days and fix it free; if we miss that, we pay another NICEIC-registered electrician to fix it, up to £250. On top of that, NICEIC's Platinum Promise covers our work if we ever stop trading (up to the amount you paid or £25,000, whichever is lower).
Yes. LGM is an NICEIC Approved Contractor, and our Qualified Supervisor checks and signs every certificate. Ask us for our registration number and check it on the NICEIC website before your visit.
Yes. That's our No-Surprise Price Lock: the price we quote is the price you pay. If a hidden fault appears, we show you the readings and fix it at our capped price per circuit, agreed in writing before we start, or you stop and pay only for the visit. Nothing is added on the day without your say-so.
One price, however you pay. Pay in full when you book and you get first pick of fitting dates, or pay 50% when you book, which confirms your date, and 50% on completion once you have your certificate. Bank transfer or card. If you book online, by phone or at home, you have 14 days to change your mind.
Yes. Once your board is fitted, recommend us to a friend. When their board upgrade is complete and paid, you get £75 and they get £75 off (£100 each on 4- and 5-bed homes). After an EICR with us, you and your friend each get £17.50 credit towards fixes or a board upgrade. One reward per completed job; it can't be combined with other discounts, and it never depends on a review.
If you own and live in it, every 10 years is recommended, and when you buy or sell. It is not a legal duty, but it is good evidence that the wiring has been looked after if you ever make an insurance claim. A rented home needs one at least every 5 years by law, and businesses are recommended every 5 years too.
No. Send 2 or 3 photos of your board on WhatsApp, or book a 10-minute video call, and we send a written verdict and a fixed price within one working day, even when the answer is "it's fine". If you'd rather we came out, the £49 20-Minute Thermal Board Check is in person, credited against any upgrade booked within 14 days, and refunded on the day if it isn't worth it to you.
Usually within two weeks. We fit a maximum of 8 boards a week, so our Qualified Supervisor can check every one. For Christmas, the last fitting date is 18 December. Quotes are valid for 14 days.
You can book the £49 Thermal Board Check or an EICR and we send the report to you and, if you like, your landlord. A board change needs the owner's go-ahead.

Fixed price in writing. Second-Opinion Promise: if an independent NICEIC inspector downgrades any C1 or C2 we gave within 60 days, you get double your fee back.

No. In England the next EICR is due at the interval on your current report (at most 5 years). What the law asks at a change of tenancy is that the new tenant gets a copy of the current report before they move in. Zero-Call Cover members can add a £49 Tenant-Change Safety Check: a visual inspection, RCD test, thermal scan and Passport update.
You get photos of every C1 and C2 and a fixed-price fix list. The law gives 28 days, or less if the report says so, and written confirmation of the fixes must go to your tenant and the council within 28 days of the work: we send it for you. Approve the fixes within 48 hours and our 28-Day Compliance Guarantee applies: done inside your deadline, or the remedial labour is free.
Board upgrades and rewires, damage by tenants (fixed at member rates with an evidence pack), appliances, communal areas and the supply. Full fair use.

Most of the price comes back through the visit you have to book anyway and one repair a year. The rest buys a 4-hour response, so a dead circuit costs you hours of trade, not days.

Emergency. A risk right now: burning smell, smoke, sparks, exposed live wiring, a shock, water in the electrics, or the whole property without power.
Urgent. Nobody at risk, but the home doesn't work: a circuit that won't reset, no light in a kitchen or bathroom, cooker, shower or heating dead, an RCD that keeps tripping.
Routine. One thing broken: a socket, a switch, a fitting, alarm batteries, or anything you want changed.

Something tripped? Unplug everything on that circuit, then push the switch on the board firmly up. If it trips again, leave it off and send us a photo. Step-by-step guide.
What is not working, which room, and a photo of the board if a switch is down. Add a time you are usually in. We do the rest and confirm the visit in the group.
Covered. The fixed wiring: sockets, switches, light fittings, the fuse board, smoke and CO alarms, the electric shower or heater circuits. Small repairs are included in your landlord's plan.
Not covered. Your own appliances (kettle, washing machine, TV), light bulbs, damage caused by misuse, and the electricity supply itself (that's 105). We will tell you straight away if something falls outside the plan.

An EICR report lists observations with a code. The code decides whether the report is satisfactory and what you must do.
Under the 2020 Regulations in England, a landlord must get any C1 or C2, and any further investigation the report requires, put right within 28 days of the report (or sooner if the report says so) and give written confirmation of the work to the tenant and the council within 28 days. The maximum penalty is now £40,000 per breach, raised from £30,000 by the Renters’ Rights Act 2025.
Every C1 and C2 on our reports comes with a photo and the regulation it breaches. The inspector never prices the remedial work. If you think a code is wrong, tell us within 14 days and we have it reviewed by an independent NICEIC-registered inspector, at our cost.
Prices vary with the size of the property, the number of circuits and how much time the inspector is given. Here is how ours work and what to watch for in a cheap quote.
£195 for a studio or 1-bed, £245 for a 2-bed, £295 for a 3-bed, £345 for a 4-bed and £395 for a 5-bed. Each additional consumer unit is £125. The report arrives within 24 hours with photos of every C1 and C2. Zero-Call Cover members get the 5-yearly EICR included and a £49 Tenant-Change Safety Check.
A very cheap EICR usually means one of three things: a limited inspection (a sample of sockets rather than every circuit), a report with no photos or explanations, or an inspector whose income comes from the remedial work the report creates. Ask any quote: does it test every circuit, does it include photos, and who prices the remedials?
Remedial work is never part of an EICR price. Ours is quoted from a fixed-price list after the report, by someone other than the inspector.
Four things tell you more than the age of the house.
A metal board fitted after 2016 with an RCBO on each circuit and a surge protection device usually only needs an EICR, not replacing. If you are not sure, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will tell you, free, the same day.
A metal enclosure, an RCBO on every circuit so one fault trips one circuit, surge protection, at least two spare ways, a certificate, Building Control notification and a 6-year guarantee. Fitted in a day, from £1,295.
Both protect against electric shock. The difference is what happens when something goes wrong.
An RCD watches a group of circuits. If it detects current leaking to earth, it switches all of them off. Most 2000s boards have one or two RCDs covering half the house each. A fault on the kitchen sockets takes out the lights, the fridge and the Wi-Fi with it.
An RCBO protects one circuit on its own. A fault on the kitchen sockets trips the kitchen sockets and nothing else. Finding the fault is quicker, and nobody is left in the dark.
It costs more in parts than a split-load RCD board. It saves you a dark house, a thawing freezer and a fault-finding bill later. Every board we fit also has surge protection (SPD) and at least two spare ways.
Before you call anyone, two checks tell you who to call.
Look at the street lights and your neighbours' windows. If everyone is dark, it is a power cut. Call 105 (free, from any phone) to reach your network operator. An electrician cannot fix a power cut.
Open the consumer unit. If one switch is down or in the middle, that circuit has tripped. Unplug everything on that circuit (often one appliance is the cause), then push the switch firmly up. If it trips again straight away, leave it off and send us a photo on WhatsApp.
A burning smell, smoke, sparks, a hot or discoloured board, water near the electrics or a shock: switch off at the main switch if it is safe to reach, leave it off and call us on 020 8178 9292. If anyone is hurt or there is a fire, call 999 first. Smell of gas: 0800 111 999.
If your landlord uses LGM, message your property's WhatsApp group with a photo of the board. We reply within one working hour.
Every board we fit has an NFC and QR tag. Tap it with any phone to open the full record.
Drag through the years. Each visit is added as it happens.
The full version of each visit, for people who like the detail.
Any C1 or C2 makes a report unsatisfactory. Under Amendment 4 to BS 7671 (2026), an FI on its own no longer does, but it should still be investigated. You get a PDF within 24 hours, photos of every C1 and C2, a fixed-price remedial list and two signatures.
